DFMPro helps to save significant time in DFM reviews

Here is what one of our customer has to say about DFMPro:
Using DFMPro, we were able to reduce our time for checking the product design from the manufacturing feasibility point of view by approximately 90% w.r.t. manual checking. The net reduction in total time for checking of product design by using DFMPro software is approximately 15%”.

Geometric to unveil DFMPro for Pro/ENGINEER at PTC World 2008

Geometric Limited , a leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions and technologies, today announced that a new offering for Pro/ENGINEER users, ‘DFMPro for Pro/ENGINEER’, will be showcased during the PTC User World 2008 in Long Beach, CA. Geometric will be at Booth # 301 from June 1-4, 2008. Registration for the beta program for the product will also commence at the event.

DFMPro is a revolutionary Design for Manufacturability (DFM) tool which facilitates upstream manufacturability validation and identification of design areas that are difficult, expensive or impossible to manufacture. Used at the designing stage, this tool allows quick and in-depth examination of product manufacturability and potentially, product manufacturing costs. DFMPro performs rule based checks which can predict manufacturing problems early in the designing stage. It considerably reduces the design review steps, thereby pushing new products into the manufacturing stage swiftly. For more information, visit www.dfmpro.com .

Other products that will be showcased at the event are GeomCaliper® for Pro/ENGINEER® and eDrawings® for Pro/ENGINEER®. GeomCaliper is a wall thickness analysis tool for designers in injection molding and castings, whereas, eDrawings is a light weight visualization tool to communicate designs through email.

DFMPro is now SolidWorks Solution Partner

Geometric's DFMPro product has now been awarded solution partner status by SolidWorks.

DFMPro is published to the Partners section of SolidWorks website here: http://www.solidworks.com/pages/partners/PartnerDetails.html?ProductID=3002

DFMPro from Geometric facilitates upstream manufacturability validation. DFMPro helps in identification of areas of a design that are difficult, expensive, or impossible to manufacture. It automates the iterative design review process for manufacturability issues. It also provides mechanism for manufacturability knowledge capture and reuse for continuous improvement.

Key Features:

  • Easy to learn and use - seamlessly integrated within CAD system
  • Common manufacturability checks related to machining and sheet metal fabrication
  • Provide reasons and suggest best practices related to manufacturability issues
  • Rule Manager to configure parameters and criticality of rules
  • Create different standard files for different vendors, machine shops
  • Ability to generate reports, which can be viewed with any internet browser

DFMPro also provides a framework to capture and reuse manufacturability expertise in the form of design rules. Using DFMPro Custom, organizations get the ability to automate in-house DFM practices into their overall standard operating procedures.

Geometric’s DFMPro™ now enables users to add Design for Manufacturability (DFM) rules in‐house

Organizations can now automate the capture and implementation of their DFM rules

Mumbai, India. April 22, 2008

Geometric Ltd., a leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions and technologies, today announced the release of DFMPro™ 2008 EX, an integrated tool on SolidWorks® which helps to get designs right the first time. Organizations can now easily add their own DFM checks and rules to automate in-house DFM practices into their standard operating procedures.

DFMPro is a revolutionary “Design for Manufacturability” product for designers and manufacturing engineers to facilitate upstream manufacturability validation and identification of design areas that are difficult, expensive or impossible to manufacture. DFMPro allows quick and in-depth examination of product manufacturability. DFMXpress, a lighter version of DFMPro is shipped with every seat of SolidWorks 2008.

DFMPro 2008 EX, the latest release of DFMPro, permits organizations to build their own custom rule libraries easily and quickly. Basic knowledge of Visual Basic (VB) scripting or SolidWorks macro languages is adequate to build custom rules. DFMPro 2008 EX now also supports easy sharing of manufacturability knowledge across departments, suppliers and vendors, thus improving their efficiency by reducing manufacturability issues. Advanced customization on the product can be provided by DFMPro product resellers, and also directly from Geometric.

DFMPro 2008 EX has also been enhanced with additional out-of-the-box rules for machining and sheet metal fabrication processes.

A limited period trial version of DFMPro 2008 EX is available at www.dfmpro.com
